    hi catlovers
i have talen in 5 kittens from BHS
2 are about 10 weeks old now and i had them since 7 weeks.they have been hand raised and are simply adorable.they would
love to stay together-since playing with each other is more fun ,than being alone.have named them portus and gaius.one =gaius-is a red/white bi colour and portus is a red tabby.they are so very affectionate and energetic.i call them my little teen terrors-since the get into all kinds of mischift– like turning the cleenex box upside down and take out all the tissue… if you would like to adopt these sweet boys and give them a loving -indoor home– please email me–or call at 341-0460

also have a second set of kittens -3 weeks old and ready to a loving home in 5 weeks.

  10. I was just in the Bahamas last week. I was upset to see the horses that are forced to pull the buggies full of fat tourist. They were underfed, whipped to go/pull faster and had little protection-an old pillow on their backs with heavy harnesses on top of them, it was sad. Is there an organization on the island who specialized in equestrian abuse? please email me and let me know.thank you

  11. Turnquest says:

    Hi Cathy

Those horse are inspected the first Thursday of every month by the Hackney Cab Board which comprises of a Veterinarian, Humane Inspector, Police Officer, Road Traffic Officer and Ministry of Tourism Officer. We have a
challenge with two of the owners and we are trying now to establish a central stabling system to ensure all the
horse receive proper care when they are not working. Some of the horses with borderline weight only are allowed
to work two days out of the week, this helps the owner to be able to continue feeding them, if you remove them from
working then they owners will not feed them and by the time you taken legal action and go through the courts to
remove them from the owners they are already dead. Until we create our central stables we have to continue monitoring
them daily, having them work a day if possible and subsides food in some cases. It would be nice if those fat tourist or any tourist for that matter would not ride them then this business could be remove from the streets of Nassau, we feel the streets of Nassau has out grown this type of tourist attraction. Please feel free to write your concerns to the Ministry
of Tourism P. O. Box N-3701 Nassau Bahamas.

  17. My husband and I are moving from overseas to one of the smaller family islands. We would like to adopt a cat and a dog once in Nassau and take them over with us. Do the small domestic airlines allow this type of transport and is there any issue with quarantine or anything the way there would be if we brought an animal from overseas?

  18. Turnquest says:

    Hi Lorelle

Sure you can adopt from the Shelter and the local airlines will take them and there is no quarantine process. Look forward to seeing you.

  19. This is my first time i go post. I collected so many interesting things in your site especially its discussion. From the tons of comments on your posts, I guess I am not the only one having all the enjoyment here! keep up the good work.Regards By academic

I’m just hoping to like help around with feeding, bathing, cleaning out cages or helping with grooming or what ever you throw at me . 24. Brittanie Friend says:

I just recently visited the bahamas for a second time and both times I have gone I have had a lot of encounters with animals. Im currently in college in VA(I am 18 Years Old) but I was curious if you guys offer any programs or anything of the sort if I were to do online classes and move there. Im really interested in helping animals and noticed while I was there that there are a lot of animals with simple problems that could potentially be fixed and they just seem like they are dying for affection and food. I thought about trying to contact a few organizations and try to get donations so I could fly there and help with getting food and medication for these animals. I would really appreciate if you could let me know your thoughts on all of this. Thank you!
